Queen's Fish & Chips: Reviews & Ratings

My hubby and I had been going to this lovely diner for at least 25 years. It has delicious fish and chips, so if you are looking for a well prepared British style fish and chips, I highly recommend this place. My only negative comment is to the customers who come to eat inside of restaurant: No phones on the table. They should be turned off or silenced. If you need to field a call or text, excuse yourself from the table and go to a location away from the dining area. Remember, if your phone is out, this indicates that it is more important than the person(s) you are dining with. We found it so rude to see another customer talking on the phone in his own language for his entire meal. I actually had to criticize him as it was the most distracting while we tried to have a quiet chat with my husband. Also, this behavior shows no respect to those around you, including the two nice men who served us with so much grace and respect.Thank you

If you're craving classic, crispy, golden fish and chips done right, this place delivers! The fish was perfectly battered—light, crispy, and not overly greasy—with a flaky, fresh interior that tasted like it was caught that morning. The chips were thick-cut and cooked to a perfect golden brown, soft on the inside with a satisfying crunch on the outside. The atmosphere was warm and casual—exactly what you'd hope for in a cozy fish and chips joint. Service was friendly and quick, and everything came out hot and fresh. Highly recommended if you're looking for a comforting, traditional meal that hits the spot.

Nice little joint. It’s pretty basic. Staff is nice, fast service. My first time here.... needed a place for a quick bite with dad and it worked out. We got the halibut, the haddock and calamari. Food is not bad. Halibuts as a little dry but still good. Wish they made their own tarter sauce. They have a special sauce which seem like a diversion of a shrink sauce. I’d probably go back to give it another go

I ordered the fish (haddock) and chips, with a can of root beer. The total was just about $14 (tax incl). The plating of the food left much to be desired, while the ambience and decor of the establishment was quite lackluster. The furniture felt dated and perhaps a tad dirty, and the air smelled of deep fry. The service was very good though, and I was delivered my plate to my table. Regarding the food: the fries were fresh and hot and had no salt or seasoning. This was ok as the focus should be on the fish, but it would benefit the restaurant to add just a bit of salt to the fries. The fish was great! The better wasn't too thick and remained crispy while the flesh was moist and flavorful. The reason I am giving a three rating has to do with the environment and the value. I think the price is a little high for an establishment that appears to cut corners on decor, cleanliness and "frills". However, if they spruced the place up a bit then I'm sure a 5 assessment is well within reach.

Stopped by a small local shop for fish and chips. The fish was fresh, the batter light and crispy. Chips were hot and fluffy. Simple, affordable, and honestly—really satisfying.

Ordered Newfie fries and cod. Newfie fries were “knock off”, did not taste like original Newfie fries. COD was cooked but batter was soggy throughout. I assume the Man and woman serving and cooking are the owners, very friendly service was great.

Amazing fish and chips! And to my joyous surprise they serve Newfie fries! (I skipped the ground beef.) This is the “small” halibut and chips special! Great portion and super tasty. Definitely recommend!!

The fish served was definitely good quality, onions used for the rings were nice and thick as well. The batter for the onion rings was a bit too thick and they were a bit too oily but did taste alright. For the age of the stores in the area I would say they have done quite well with the decor and setup.
